The PNGRFL has today announced a further deferral of its Annual General Meeting that was rescheduled to take place this Saturday 25th April in Port Moresby.
PNGRFL CEO Reatau Rau said the new date set is Saturday 6th June 2020.
Rau said it was important to comply with the restrictions and orders set by the COVID19 State of Emergency throughout the country.
“As a responsible organisation, the PNGRFL will continue to take heed of the SOE directives and orders in the best interest of everyone’s health and safety during this time.”
He said the restrictions on domestic flights, travel between provinces, social distancing and the gatherings of 100 people or more are some issues beyond our control.
“The Government has declared a State of Emergency scheduled to end on June 2, 2020 and every citizen must adhere to the guidelines and conditions stated,” Rau said.
“This decision and directive supersedes our PNGRFL constitution and it’s relevant laws, rules and regulations. We have in the recent past and again now, consulted with the relevant authorities and our counsel to make this decision.”
He said the PNGRFL continues to encourage its supporters and the rugby league fraternity to practice good basic hygiene, social distancing, eating healthy and to stay at home.
